Football Federation Victoria (FFV) has announced the process for U13 & U14 State team selection for the 2015 season.

Players are being asked to nominate themselves to trial if they believe that they have the skill, ability and desire to play at the State level.   Trial nominations are open to all players; however State Programs are geared towards the most technically advanced players.

A requirement of state players is a commitment to attend formal coached training sessions up to three times per week.   Players must possess the talent, but more importantly, have the drive and commitment to work as a team to reach the highest of standards of play.

Training in Melbourne once every three weeks, players from the Murray Region will also be required to train at Murray United F.C. twice a week under the guidance of Murray United F.C. Under 14 English Coach Ian Johnston, Technical Director Paul Millynn, FFV Zone Development Officer Atila Kerestes and other specialist coaches.

“The role of MUFC in FFV’s State team development is another great vote of confidence for what we are doing as a club.   FFV is stating clearly that the NPL is a vital pathway for young players to move not only into representative squads, but also into professional leagues” said Johnston.

Working with FFV Zone Development Officer Atila Kerestes, Murray United F.C. is even better equipped to provide the most relevant high level training programs available to U13 & U14 players.   With an incredible track record of over 50% of his players successfully reaching state representation, Kerestes truly knows what it takes to bring young players up to necessary standard.

“What makes success is the focus on a football player’s four core football skills, without any bias to any one skill.   This methodology produces incredibly well rounded players that go on to become the most elite in any competition” said Kerestes.

MUFC Techincal Director Paul Millynn explained that the role of Murray United in the state squad process provides a very unique opportunity for those U13 and U14 boys and girls in the Murray Region with aspirations of representing their state, to get a head start on other players.

”I would strongly encourage any boy or girl who wants the very best chance possible at achieving state representation to contact Murray United as soon as possible.   Our intensive training program over summer will be aimed at bringing every player up to their best.   We know exactly what is required for state representation, and if you have the solid foundations in playing ability, Murray United can take you to the next level.”
