It was revealed recently that an app was released for the Australian National team prior to the 2014 World Cup. The app requires Socceroo players to answer questions twice a day during the season.
Tarek Elrich, a defender for Adelaide United and the Australian national team, downloaded the app when he was selected for the national team in March this year. Elrich is now required to report his daily activities before and after training to the Socceroos coaching staff. The app assess player workloads both physically and mentally. This allows the National team coaching staff to request clubs for lighter workloads for certain players in the lead up to big international fixtures.
In addition to this technological advance, national team players also receive emails from the national team staff about their opponents’ general information. Prior to the Socceroos’ World Cup qualifier against Kyrgyzstan, Elrich received an email detailing the countries location and even the power points they used (which are two circles and 240 volts by the way).
