After Australia’s stellar performance at the Asian cup there were arguable two big standouts. Player of the tournament Massimo Luongo and Australia’s top goal scorer Tim Cahill.

Australian’s golden boy of football has continually come to his country’s aid on the big stage. Time and time again his towering headers win games for club and country. These are only over shadowed by his thunderous volleys and acrobatic bicycle kicks. Having such lethal finishing abilities it’s no wonder why Tim Cahill is high on a lot of manager’s shopping lists.

Having won the Asian Cup Tim Cahill also won a contract rumoured to be between $3,000,000 to $10,000,000 with Chinese Super League team Shanghai Shenhua. He joins a long list of successful strikers who have been at the club such as Nicolas Anelka and Didier Drogba. Whilst Shanghai Shenhua fans will be celebrating the capture of Cahill, opposition goalkeepers and innocent corner flags will be dreading the day they face Australia’s top goal scorer.

While Cahill seems to be playing out the twilight of his career in China, Massimo Luongo is heading in the opposite direction by establishing his name with Australian and global football fans with his star performance at the Asian Cup. Plying his trade in the English third division Massimo with Swindon Town it seems that he will be on the move in the not too distant future, with interest from Spanish and Turkey being reported in the media. Tottenham Hotspur are surely regretting letting Luongo go for a modest $800,000 (approx) in 2013.
