We are incredibly delighted to announce Matt Mills and Matt Brewer who will lead the shaping of Murray’s youth for the next 3 years!
Mills will be the Youth Boys Teams TD and Brewer will oversee the Youth Girls Teams as TD along with managing our Pre-NPL program.
Mills and Brewer who both hold B-Diploma coaching accreditation are exemplary individuals and their investment into the club and their passion to continue their football growth journey is rewarded with the club backing both individuals into the A-Diploma coaching course. This exciting journey will also see a significant involvement with the upper echelon of professionals in football from within Victoria, NSW and Australia wide.
Both Mills and Brewer will follow in the footsteps of former Technical Director James Coutts, who also commenced his professional coaching journey within the ranks of Murray United FC and is now a A-Diploma coach and highly regarded TD in Football QLD. The Board have identified over the past 10 years that coaches and staff that enter the club from within our region and begin their investment journey with Murray become the most successful, Murray embraces and values backing locals, who also believe in the motto, vision and values of the club.
Brewer began his journey with Murray in 2015 involved with the clubs then SAP program (now named Pre-NPL), and held roles with U16, U17 and U18 boys teams and was the head coach of the U16 boys team in 2023 that become Division 3 champions, the clubs first official silverware. Brewer was also head coach of the U18 boys team in 2024 that qualified in Division 2.
Mills began his journey with Murray in 2023 as assistant coach with the U16 boys who went on to become Division 3 champions. Mills then took the reins with the U16 boys in 2024 in Division 2 and more recently become the first coach in the clubs history to lead a team into youth Division 1 with our current U17 boys squad.
Brewer and Mills have also had significant involvement with several former Murray players including John Hassan and Israel Monga, recruited to A-League club Western United.
