On Saturday 31st at 5.30pm, Murray United F.C., for the second week in a row, will face off against a high quality NPL team in a practice match at La Trobe Soccer Grounds Wodonga.
This week the challenge for the boys will be the Port Melbourne Sharks.
After a fantastic couple of days last weekend, where Murray United gained invaluable experience playing against both North Geelong and the Bentleigh Greens, this week again promises to see MUFC take another leap forward in their preparation for their debut NPL1 game in February.
Despite some senior players still overcoming some niggling injuries which prevented them from playing last week, MUFC Senior Coach Mick Richards said:
“There are some players that are a couple of weeks off, but we’ll have a good squad. We’re looking forward to challenging another NPL club. This experience is invaluable in our preparation for the beginning of the NPL1 season.”
After two very fast paced and physical games last week all MUFC players came out unscathed and will once again be ready to take it to the Sharks.
“Last week the guys hung in there against some really good sides. Their attitude was great, and they worked very hard for each other. This week we should expect to see them build on this against a strong Port Melbourne team.”
Port Melbourne is the home of former Albury resident Trent Rixon.
“Trent is a very hard player to match up against and with Port Melbourne always having good youngsters coming through, it’ll be a tough game.”
