Amy Chapman is finally overcoming the ACL injury that struck her down last year. The Matilda tweeted a picture in her AIS training jacket with the caption stating that she was “Loving being back into full training”. The W-league season kicks off on September 13 and though it will be a battle to play round 1, it’s looking more and more likely that her return date will be a lot sooner than first thought.
In the men’s, both Josh Kennedy and Archie Thompson failed to make a young Socceroos team that will play Belgium in a Friendly on September 5. Postecoglou’s youth policy is starting to take its toll on the elder statesman, and the pair may find it hard to break back in. There were no matches for Thompson this week but Josh Kennedy was influential in his 71 minutes on the field for Nagoya Grampus, as they drew 1-1 against Kashiwa Reysol.
