It’s another test for the Murray United Senior and U20 teams as they head down the Hume for a friendly against State League 1 team, Langwarrin.
One of the premier clubs in the Frankston / Mornington Peninsula area of outer Melbourne, and recently celebrating 50 years as a club, Langwarrin have been the breeding ground for numerous current NPL players and Socceroo Baily Right.
Boasting one of the strongest junior and senior participation rates for both men and women, Langwarrin’s depth and stability has seen them achieve success in recent times. Having beaten Dandenong City and Dandenong Thunder (NPL1 and NPL respectively) this pre-season already, there is no doubt, Langwarrin is team to take very seriously.
“Murray United has another very challenging test in front of them tomorrow”, said MUFC Senior Coach Mick Richards.
“Langwarrin are physically a very fit team. They have beaten quality NPL and NPL1 teams, and will certainly put it to our guys.”
Zac Walker will be joining the senior Murray United team the first time this weekend.
“It’s going to be great to have Zac play this week. Like many of the other players, I’d only expect to get 30-40 minutes out of him. This close to the start of the season, we need to manage preparation and game time carefully. Our priority is hitting game one in two weeks’ time with our best team, in the best condition they can be. So we will also use this weekend as an opportunity for some younger players to get some experience.”
