Resilience on the Road: Murray United Round 11 Match Report
All Eyes Now on a Huge Home Round 12 in Baranduda

Round 11 of the JBNPL and CPL seasons saw all Murray United squads on the road, with our U14 NPL Boys enjoying a well-earned bye. From gritty draws and hard-fought losses to comeback wins and massive goal hauls, our teams showed resilience, heart, and plenty of promise as they took on opponents across Melbourne.

With Round 12 set to bring all Murray United teams back home this Sunday (July 27), Baranduda Fields is gearing up for a full day of football. Mark your calendars—this is a round not to miss!

🔵 JBNPL1 – U17s

Final Score: 1–3 Loss
Goal Scorer: Leroy

A sluggish start saw us concede just five minutes in, but the boys responded by lifting the tempo. Despite promising patches of play and good spells of possession, we struggled to turn Football Victoria around and paid the price with a second goal before the break.

The second half began brightly, with several breaks forward that couldn’t quite find the net. A goal from a corner against the run of play made it 3-0. However, the introduction of Asher and Easton (stepping up from the U15s) injected renewed energy, and Leroy capitalised on the lift with a composed finish off the inside of the post.

There was strong resilience shown, especially in the final stages, and a warm welcome back to Taffy—his first match since pre-qualifying due to a broken leg and ankle surgery.

High Performance Players: Pieter, Oli, Richard, Koby
Milestones: Debuts for Asher and Easton; Taffy’s return to the pitch

🔵 JBNPL2 – U15s

Final Score: 0–0 Draw

With a squad hampered by injury and suspension, our 15s held firm in a tight contest with Brunswick City. Despite controlling much of the first half and creating several clear chances—including a big penalty shout—Murray couldn’t convert.

Brunswick came out stronger after the break and threatened in moments, but our defence held, and we survived a late scare when their striker missed a golden chance.

A frustrating result, but a solid effort from a reshuffled squad.

High Performance Players: Liam O’Connor, Asher Royal, Archer Stow, Tyla Singh
Special Mentions: U14s Leo Mason and Hudson Woolhouse stepped up brilliantly

🔵 JBNPL2 – U16s

Final Score: 1–1 Draw
Goal Scorer: Odin

Murray United struck first with a sharp finish from Odin, but the lead didn’t last long after some soft defending allowed Brunswick an equaliser.

Despite several chances in the second half, a combination of wasteful possession and poor defensive transitions kept us from reclaiming the lead. Jonah was outstanding in goal and ensured we left with a point.

High Performance Players: Jonah Carabott, Leroy Ogesare, Jack Ryder, Odin Hooper, Lucas Quaill, Andrew Herzina
Milestones: U15 players Christian, Tyla, Xavier, and Andrew all featured and impressed

💜 CPL Girls – U13s

Final Score: 5–3 Win
Goal Scorers: Pamela D. (2), Rowena R. (2), Zahlee M. (1)

In a game defined by grit and determination, our U13s dug deep to come from behind against Pascoe Vale. After a slow start, Rowena injected intensity off the bench and combined beautifully with Pamela to open the scoring.

Despite going down late, the girls rallied with heart and confidence to claim an impressive comeback victory.

Top Players: Pamela D. (clinical and tireless), Rowena R. (game-changing energy and composure)
Special Mentions: A big welcome to debutant Lara and thanks to Rowena and Dympna for stepping in

💜 CPL Girls – U15s

Final Score: 13–0 Win
Goal Scorers: Alexis I. (2), Molly S. (3), Rowena R. (1), Sibel P. (3), Zoe F. (1), Ruby O. (1), Dympna M. (1), Achol D. (1)

Total control. From the opening whistle, the U15s dominated possession, shape, and tempo in a complete team performance. Players adapted to new roles, rose to fresh challenges, and played creative, intelligent football.

Top Player: Zoe F. – Calm, dangerous, and decisive
Impact Players: Ruby O., Sibel P., Alexis I., Pippa O.
Welcome Back: Jess C. and Dympna M. – great to see you both back in action
Support Crew: Huge thanks to Pamela and Zahlee for their contributions on the day

💜 CPL Girls – U17s

Final Score: 0–1 Loss

Despite controlling the game and creating numerous chances, the U17s were unable to find the back of the net. With six U15s stepping up and players covering unfamiliar positions, the girls fought hard and played brave football throughout.

Pascoe Vale managed a single late break and scored against the run of play in the dying minutes. A highlight of the match was Jenna’s long-range strike, which forced a top save from the opposition keeper.

Standout Players: Eve Lassey and Aman Wol
Special Thanks: Isla, Pippa, Sibel, Ruby, Molly, and Alexis for supporting the team
