⚽ Murray United Match Report – Round 8

It was a massive weekend across the board for our Murray United squads, with standout performances, gritty comebacks, and dominant displays in Round 8 of JBNPL and CPL Girls competition. Here’s a full wrap-up of all the action from a memorable round of football.

🔵 JBNPL 1 – Round 8

U17s

Final Score: 1–5 Loss
Goal Scorer: Leroy

It was a courageous performance from a depleted U17s squad who had to rely on eight top-up players from the U15 and U16 sides. Murray United started strong, with excellent structure and pressure that paid off when Leroy put us ahead mid-way through the first half. Archie, Koby and Bonheur controlled the midfield early, creating problems for Bulleen.

The second half started much the same, but an equaliser sparked Bulleen into action. As fatigue set in, the opposition capitalised, scoring four late goals. Despite the final scoreline, the effort and commitment from the entire squad was unquestionable.

High Performance Players: Whole squad – a complete team effort.

🔵 JBNPL 2 – Round 8

U14s

Final Score: 1–2 Loss
Goal Scorer: Andy Reckless

A tough match that slipped away against a strengthened Whittlesea Ranges lineup. Our boys struggled to find pressure early but showed determination to fight back. A second-half goal from Andy gave us a glimmer of hope, but we couldn’t quite find the equaliser. Jimmy, Andy, and Ruben stood out in a closely contested match.

High Performance Players: Jimmy, Andy, Ruben, Levi

U15s

Final Score: 2–0 Win
Goal Scorers: Archer Stow, Bailey Meredith

Missing six regular players, this was one of the U15s most resilient performances to date. A determined press led to Archer’s opening goal, and despite further injuries, the boys dug deep. Bailey secured the win after a long-range effort from Cameron hit the crossbar and fell kindly. Every player left everything on the pitch in a gutsy and inspired victory.

High Performance Players: Liam O’Connor, Archer Stow, Bailey Meredith, Connor Medcraft

U16s

Final Score: 7–0 Win
Goal Scorers: Leroy (4), E’Ka (2), Hamish (1)

Five games unbeaten and counting! The U16s put on a dominant display, showcasing defensive discipline and attacking prowess. Leroy’s four-goal haul led the charge while E’Ka and Hamish joined the scoresheet in a comprehensive win. A debut assist from Liam and another clean sheet made it a great day for the squad.
