Series B Italy’s second football division, is trialing a new scheme to help reward fair play. This will come in the form of a green card awarded after matches to players on and off the field, as well as coaches.
To be awarded a green card individuals must have displayed extraordinary acts of sportsmanship. Examples of actions that warrant a green card are admitting to a hand ball, or give away a corner kick for an incorrect call.
Players or coaches with the most green cards will be rewarded at the end of the season, although the details of the rewards are not known. Rewarding fair play is not new to Football as the English Premier League also rewarded West Ham for finishing top of the fair play ladder with a a place in the 2015-16 Europa League qualifying round.
